Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.

Digital Channels Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Modifications

Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Shopper Accounts

A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Required Changes

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
