Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The exciting extended matchup where the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run averaged a combined over 50 million watchers across the US, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB reported this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game averaged 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game after the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase over the previous Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 ranked 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game finished in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game averaged 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English-language program in the country since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – averaged over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in Japan.

Series Totals and Trends

The full seven-game series drew 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total US viewership was 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels averaged over 8 million watchers, an 8% increase over last year and the network’s best postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different tongues.
